Varanasi city

Varanasi is one of the oldest cultural heritage of the worldlocated along the bank of river Ganga in the northern part of India. Varanasi is full of mysticismand a centre for philosophers, poets and scientist for centuries. Civilization dates back frommore than 3000 years. Varanasi apart from its rich cultural and religious history is also a majorfoundation of learning and culture. The Banaras Hindu University in the city is the largestresidential University in Asia. The city is also known for the origin of the ancient holistichealing sciences of Ayurveda and Yoga. It is the city where Lord Buddha preached his firstsermon after his enlightenment. Currently, it is known as Sarnath located in the north directionfrom the main city centre. Varanasi has been associated with the promotion of spiritualism,mysticism, sanskrit and yoga. Knowledge, philosophy, arts and crafts have flourished heresince centuries.


The city is also regarded as the most sacred city in the world where millions of visitors visitfor taking a sacred bath in Ganga river. There are about 23000 thousand temples and eightyfour Ghats in the city which are the major attractions for millions of visitors coming to theVaranasi from far and near places from different regions of the world.
